Position: Lab Technician (Research & Development)

Overview:
Hayden Industrial, a leading manufacturer of industrial cooling systems, is seeking a Lab Technician. You will be at the heart of our innovation process, helping us build and test the next generation of liquid cooling solutions for the world’s largest data centers. You will support the engineering team by setting up thermal experiments, operation specialized machinery, and ensuring our heat exchangers meet rigorous performance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, insulate, and instrument heat exchange prototypes with sensors (thermocouples, flow meters, and pressure transducers)
- Safely operate lab equipment including chillers, resistive load banks, and prototype units.
- Monitor real – time thermal data during test cycles using DAQ (Data Acquisition) systems and document results with high precision.
- Perform routine maintenance on lab test loops and ensure all measurement tools are calibrated and functioning within spec
- Assist engineers in the fabrication of custom components, including basic electrical, plumbing (fittings/hoses), and mechanical assembly.
Hayden Industrial has determined this position involves safety-sensitive job duties and will be considered a safety-sensitive position for purpose of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act (“The Unity Bill.”) effective August 29th, 2019.
Education and Experience:
- An associate’s degree in technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology) – Preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting manufacturing environment, or mechanical repair shop
- Strong comfort level with hand and power tools, and general machinery operation
- Ability to follow complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols without deviation
- Basic proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for data entry and documentation
Preferred:
- Experience with fluid systems or HVAC/R components
- Familiarity to stand for extended periods and maneuver around large equipment racks
- Comfort working around pressurized fluids and high-temperature components
Supervisor Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
Non-temperature controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, (paint masks, respirator, when required) and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.

While performing duties of this job, the employee in this position is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. This position requires walking, the ability to reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee occasionally will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
