Selection Procedure

STEP 1

System flow rate (GPM) of hot liquid

STEP 2 :: Heat transfer requirement = input energy lost to heat 1 HP = 2545 BTU/HR
:: Performance curves based on Inlet Temperature Difference (ITD) of 50°F ITD = (Inlet temperature of hot liquid) - (Ambient temperature of air)
:: If ITD is not 50°F: Heat transfer requirement = Input energy lost to heat x 50°F
STEP 3

Select curve for heat exchanger model at or above heat transfer requirements

For 12" thin line motor configurations, multiply heat transfer requirement calculated in step 2 by 1.15 before using performance charts (for 14" thin line motor configurations - Style A - use performance curves shown).

Amp draw at 13.5V:

  STYLE A STYLE B/D STYLE C
Thin Line Motor 10 10 20
Barrel Motor 11.5 10 20

Plotted pressure drop (PSID) values based on viscosity of 50 SSU. If viscosity is not 50 SSU, multiply PSID value by tabulated multiplier to obtain estimate of actual PSID:

  50 SSU 100 SSU 150 SSU 200 SSU

250 SSU

PSID Multiplier 1 1.75 2.3 2.75 3.2

See for general heat transfer information.
